NEBBIOLO D’ALBA D.O.C. Loreto
Vineyards position: Canale, Piedmont, Italy.
This village belonging to the municipality of Canale is one of its oldest settlements, famous also for the suggestive Sanctuary built between the end of the Fifteenth century and the beginning of the Sixteenth century.
Soil: clayey-limestoned with sand
Date of harvesting: beginning of October
Yield per hectare: 45 hl
Wine-making
In this vineyard the yield per vine has not to be more than 2 kg so, for this reason, we choice the grape practising a double clearing (at the beginning and at the end of August). The grape harvest is manual and, also during this operation, we try to choice the bunches, so we prefer to divide the harvesting in two times, 6-10 days the one by the other.
The fermentation is done in stainless steel macerators, so that is guaranteed the correct contact skin-must and an adequate extraction of colour. After, the wine stays in tonneaux, in which is developed the malo-lactic processing, for 12-15 months and then it stays newly in stainless steel casks.
The wine is bottled in the month of August and in October, two years after the harvesting it enters on the market.
Tasting notes
Complex fragrance, aristocratic, elegant with notes of redcurrant, bilberry, liquorice and spice. The taste is silky, hot with sweet tannins. It emits sensations that increase continuously passing through the matured fruit and the vanilla.
It’s a big wine good with roasts and seasoned cheese.
Temperature of taste: 16° C.
